    How Updates are Constructed[Top]
I don't claim to be careful about maintaining my knowledge of the topics discussed in Zebra Cards. If I see something zebra-related during my regular reading, I rip the article and put the reference on the web site. In a couple cases I've gone further and re-reviewed the literature. Not often.

Here's what I read:

  • New England Journal of Medicine
  • Lancet   (since spring 1996)
  • JAMA
  • Journal of the American College of Cardiology
  • Mayo Clinic Proceedings
  • Archives of Internal Medicine
  • Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine
  • ACCEL   (American College of Cardiology Extended Learning tapes)
The Annals of Internal Medicine, although a fine publication, simply became too expensive to continue.

The following non-medical magazines on my regular reading list occasionally have some relevance to matters mentioned in Zebra Cards:

  • Science News
  • Wired   (since 1995)
  • Communications of the ACM   (ACM = Association for Computing Machinery)
  • Aviation Week and Space Technology
Of the periodicals on these lists, the two I enjoy the most are The Lancet and Wired. You open them up, and you never know where you're going to go!
